About

Steve Baker has 30 years of leadership experience spanning military aerospace engineering, private sector software engineering, Parliament and government.

He is a Privy Councillor and a Fellow of the RSA. He was previously MP for Wycombe for 14 years, including serving as a minister in the Cabinet Office, the Northern Ireland Office and the Department for Exiting the EU. He ran several notable campaigns as a backbench MP.

Steve’s career began in the Royal Air Force as an engineer officer working with Tornado, Jaguar and the Adour aero engine. He became a Chartered Engineer through the Royal Aeronautical Society and held a military airworthiness licence. After his time with the RAF, he read for an MSc in Computer Science at Oxford University (St Cross College) and joined a specialist, entrepreneurial software firm as Head of Consulting and Product Manager before taking on various senior roles in business software.

Steve was elected to Parliament representing Wycombe in 2010. He served first on the Transport Select committee before moving to the Treasury Committee. He was elected to the Executive of the Conservative 1922 Committee by Parliamentary colleagues. Steve lost his seat in the Labour landslide of 2024 when almost half of Conservative voters in Wycombe stayed at home.

In his spare time, Steve enjoys skydiving, trail running, fast catamaran sailing, skiing, motorcycling and spending time with his wife and godchildren.
