About

Carola is a Professor of Arts and Higher Education at Staffordshire University and the Co-Director of its C3 Research Centre for Creative Industries and Creative Communities. She has lectured and held positions at the University of Glasgow, Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Mainz (Germany), the Conservatory of Music in Hanover (Germany) and Den Haag (Netherlands). Holding degrees in music, computer science and electrical engineering, Carola has written more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and sits on the peer review panels of UKRI and the European Commission. With a track record of projects (funded by EC, EPSRC, SHEFC, JISC, British Library, Leverhulme, HEA, EU, HLF and ACE), her most recent work considers the role of arts and academia in society, considering how creative co-creation provides new structures for partnerships aimed at culture-led regeneration. Carola holds the co-chair of a regional UK cultural compact ‘Stoke Creates’ and sits on the board of trustees of ArtUK.
