Jo Basford

With over twenty-five years working in the field of education, Jo has worked across the entire sector from early years to higher education. Her research and educational expertise lie firstly within the early years sector. Specific areas of expertise relate to the curriculum and assessment, the early years workforce and the impact of inequalities in the sector on professionals, children and their parents. At the heart of Jo’s work is a commitment to social justice. Within her role as Associate Professor in the Institute of Education, supporting students to realise their career aspirations and widen opportunities to gain the necessary cultural and social capital to succeed remains at the forefront of her work.
